I would love to hear your take on raising funds for a startup. What would you do differently this time if you were building a startup once again ? What has changed ? What remains the same ? Thanks for sharing the accidental entrepreneurship paper about user entrepreneurs, I had not heard of the idea before.

There is so much I would do differently now! But the primary difference is that I could have learned and iterated more quickly. For example, I could have launched an MVP in a few weeks (rather than months). And if I had had clear goals around new Cx acquisition and engagement (retention, visit rates, completion rates, etc), I would have seen much earlier the problems with GiftSimple and either been able to address them or realized I needed to pivot. There will be a lot more on how to set the right metrics and measuring what matters in a later post!

Thanks for sharing your journey. As a product manager I always truggle with this balance - "what people say and what they actually do are not always the same! This lesson has stayed with me: qualitative research tells you what people think they want; quantitative research tells you what they actually do. You need both."
